Disappointing Valentine’s Stay – Very Poor Experience We stayed at Mindil Beach Casino Resort in a Lagoon Room for Valentine’s Day, expecting a relaxing and romantic getaway. Unfortunately, our experience was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. Upon entering the room, we found the bar fridge completely frozen with broken glass bottles inside. There was glass everywhere, which was both unsafe and unacceptable. It was very clear that the fridge had not been checked or cleaned prior to our arrival. To make matters worse, when we went to use the bathrobes, we discovered a previous guest’s eyelash brush stuck inside the sleeve. This was absolutely disgusting and raised serious concerns about the cleanliness and housekeeping standards. The ceiling fan was also not working, which is a major issue in Darwin’s wet season when it is hot and humid. The floors throughout the room were sticky and slippery, adding to the discomfort. We contacted the hotel for assistance, but instead of resolving the issue efficiently, multiple staff members (around four different people) came into our room to inspect the same fan problem. Towels were laid all over the floors as a temporary fix, but no proper solution was provided. Despite the ongoing issues, no room change, compensation, or meaningful resolution was offered. What was meant to be a romantic Valentine’s escape turned into a frustrating experience filled with inconvenience, lack of cleanliness, and constant interruptions. Overall, this stay fell far below expectations, especially for a special occasion. We would not recommend this experience and hope the hotel seriously improves its housekeeping and maintenance standards.

Excellent service all around! Alfred at the bar was especially outstanding—friendly, attentive, and always serving with a smile. He truly made the experience memorable and definitely deserves a raise!

Casino. They want you to spend money. For a casino the food is over priced. Nice location. Beer is good. Slightly cheaper than the other venues.

Wet season stay We had a really enjoyable stay at Mindil Beach. The staff were absolutely amazing — friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome throughout our visit. The sunsets were gorgeous and the weather was wonderful the entire time, which made the experience even more special. There was a great atmosphere around the property and plenty to do. Yes, we won a little and lost more — but as they say, the house always wins! The Vue restaurant served amazing food and was a real highlight. I also looked forward to my chia latte with soy every night from the sports bar — such a nice little ritual to end the day. Our room was a bit tired, but we could see renovations are underway which is great to see, and we’re sure it will be fantastic once completed. Overall, we gave our stay 4 out of 5 stars due to the current renovations and the condition of the room — but the wonderful staff, beautiful sunsets and great food made it a very enjoyable trip. Plenty to due in the wet season, you get wet but never cold. Big plus no crowds 😉

Darwin Casino Hotel – Never again Extremely disappointing stay from start to finish. Unwelcoming and disorganised reception staff who act as if they’re doing you a favour just by checking you in. The room was unacceptable: strong damp smell, stale air, and very questionable cleanliness. Definitely not what you expect from a hotel that claims to be upscale. The pool was dirty and poorly maintained — relaxing was the last thing on anyone’s mind. The entire property feels old, neglected, and badly in need of serious maintenance. The price is completely unjustified. You pay for the name, not the quality, and even the name no longer delivers. Darwin has far better accommodation options for the same (or lower) price. My honest advice: book elsewhere. One stay was more than enough.

The initial welcome did not go well, as we were not booked into the room we had chosen. Staff tried hard to sooth us and work out a solution. We wanted the lagoon room with the swim out pool. My fellow traveller has mobility issues and does not cope with stairs. The selected room had 4 stairs down to it which she knew about. Our booked room was upstairs on the resort side. We stayed in the hotel side fir our first night and moved into the lagoon room the next day. With rooms were beautiful. A shower chair was provided when requested. The lagoon pool is wonderful and the swim out bar, fun. The pool ladder was too difficult for my friend to use and she exited via the beach. Walking on sand and shells without a hand rail was hard and difficult for her. The availability of golf carts to transport us was greatly appreciated and used regularly. Breakfast was great and included in the price. The casino complex has good resources but it also has a variety of levels to access. Ramps are available in some spots. The infinity pool was wonderful and easy to access. Unfortunately the toilet and change area was down steep stairs. The restaurants there and room service provided interesting meals. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. We had a great experience but I am not sure we would book the lagoon resort side again.

First time visitor to Casino for breakfast. Website offered buffet breakfast, false, table service only which was fine. Arrived at 9am, by 10am we asked where our coffee and breakfast was, they lost our order. Not once did any of the multitude of staff notice us sitting there with no food. Breakfast finally arrived, didn't get what I ordered. After complaining about this, we were charged for our coffee only, which is great. But we wont be going back, so disappointed with the restaurant and staff.

My partner & I had a wonderful time at the Casino resort. It was the staff who truly made our experience relaxing and care free. The staff were extremely friendly and happy to do all the little things that make our stay carefree. It was such a treat to order room service & enjoy the view. Our ocean view room had a beautiful view of the sunset too. It was also quiet in the rooms & felt like our own little oasis!
